Subject Newsgroup

A new newsgroup has been created for this subject. Its on mulga.cs.mu.oz.au and it goes by the id cs.652 Please post all questions regarding this subject over there from now. That way everyone can benefit from it, and I wont have to answer the same question multiple times ;>

You can use either a mail client like Mozilla (I prefer this one) or Outlook Express to access the newsgroup. Or u could use nn to view the newsgroup. log in to any of the servers (queeg, mungee,etc) > type nn > type G > type cs.652 > ENTER and then follow the instructions from this site http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/software/nn/getting-started/section-12.html

It seems many are facing problems accessing the newsgroup from their mail clients. I took the liberty to set up both mozilla mail and outlook express on my computer. Here are the steps needed to set up an account on your mail client to allow you to view the cs.678 newsgroup.

Mozilla

  1. goto Edit > Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings > Add Account
  2. A wizard will pop-up. Select Newsgroup account
  3. Follow the prompts given. Enter name, email address.
  4. When it comes to newsgroup server => mulga.cs.mu.oz.au
  5. Put in anything for the account name.
  6. Verify and finish.

Outlook Express

  1. goto Tools > Accounts > News tab > Add > News
  2. A wizard will pop-up.
  3. put in ur display name. Follow the prompts.
  4. NNTP server (newsgroup server) => mulga.cs.mu.oz.au
  5. finish
  6. it will ask if u want to download the list of accounts. Select 'yes'
  7. a whole list will appear. choose cs.652 and voila!
