This is the first in the series of annual international e-Science conferences and is being hosted by the University of Melbourne (Australia), Queen's University (UK), and NCSA (National Centre for Supercomputing Applications, USA) in cooperation with various academic and industrial organisations. The next meeting will most likely be held in Europe/UK.

All papers are to be published in a proceedings by the internationally renowned Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - IEEE (confirmation pending). It is expected that approximately 200 people will to attend the conference. In addition, the meeting will be co-located with Sensor Networks and Information Processing conference (organised at the same venue) and we expect that it will bring additional 150 participants and enhances further interaction.
